Grey County is more than just beautiful landscapes, it’s a thriving hub for Canadian Manufacturing. With 590 manufacturing business and $2.17 billion in exports in 2022, Grey plays a vital role in driving economic growth both locally and nationally. These exports reflect the value of goods and services produced in the region and sold across Canada and the world.
One of the most remarkable stories to come out of Grey’s manufacturing sector is the creation of the Excellence in Manufacturing Consortium (EMC). Founded in Owen Sound in the early 1990’s, EMC began as a grassroots effort to connect local manufacturers and help them share knowledge, solve problems, and grow strong together. Over the past 25 years, that small idea has grown into Canada’s largest manufacturing consortium, supporting thousands of manufacturers from coast to coast.
EMC continues to champion collaboration and innovation in the sector. One of its most impactful initiatives is “Member Needs Help”, a platform where manufacturers can ask questions, share insights, and crowdsource solutions to real-world challenges. While this service is typically reserved for EMC members, it’s now being opened up to all Canadian manufacturers for a limited time. This special Canada/US Trade Relations Edition is designed to help businesses navigate the complexities of cross-boarder trade, offering a space for shared learning and support during a time of rapid change.
